A man’s body has been found on the banks of the Elbow River in southwest Calgary near the Holy Cross Health Centre.

The discovery was made by a passer-by just after 4:30 Tuesday afternoon.

The medical examiner has been unable to determine a cause of death so the homicide unit has been called in to process the scene    .

Calgary Police Service Duty Inspector Paul Stacey says the area is cordoned off to the public.

“We’ll process the scene for any evidence that may be present,” adds Stacey.

“An autopsy will likely occur this week and that will likely give us some pretty good guidance on where to take the investigation.”

The age and I-D of the deceased has not been released.
