Cowboys and cowgirls will soon have a familiar place with a new location to let their hair down.
Cowboys Dance Hall is re-opening in the downtown core after a five year hiatus.
The western-themed nightclub shut its doors in 2007.
President of Penny Lane Entertainment Paul Vickers says it’s taken some time to find the perfect spot.
“We had to find the right home, the economy was down, there was difficulties with the different components of the city that may or may not have wanted Cowboys in their neighbourhood,” he tells 660News.
For those who remember the old 9th Avenue locale, Vickers says don’t fear…..you’ll still remember some of the old motif.
“It is a brand new Cowboys but we tried to design it very similar to the old one,” he explains. “We painstakingly tried to take out some of the bars and wall artifacts and stuff.”
“The downside is that it’s different, it doesn’t smell like the old Cowboys,” he jokes. “There’s not that stale beer smell in the air, so we need to get that broken in and get some customers in there to spill some beer.”
Tonight they celebrate their grand opening at the new hall, at the corner of 12th Avenue and Olympic Way SE.
When asked about how he would explain a “Cowboys experience”, Vickers calls it the most fun you can have with your boots on.
Doors will open at 6 pm.
