Bruce Springsteen has revealed to The New Yorker that he has been battling depression for the past three decades and he’s been seeing a psychiatrist since 1982.
The 62-year-old New Jersey native explained that in some ways he is grateful for the demons that haunt him, and said it has helped his live performances.
His biographer Dave March said Springsteen became suicidal in the early 80s when his popularity was reaching new heights.
Gutarist Steve Van Zandt – who plays with Springsteen – added that The Boss is the only person he knew that never used drugs.
