Calgarians will soon get to tickle their funny bone with the first ever YYComedy Festival.
From September 24th to the 30th renowned Canadian comics, many with a Calgary connection, will showcase some of this country’s best export.
Performers include Kids in the Hall’s Bruce McCulloch and Mark McKinney, Ryan Belleville, Rebecca Northan, Roman Danylo and Derek Flores.
Producer Harry Doupe tells 660News the launch of a comedy festival in Cowtown was long overdue.
“Calgary’s a city that so many good people have come out of but it never really has acknowledged itself,” he says.
And Doupe adds the timing was right with the 35th anniversary of the Loose Moose theatre and Yuk Yuk’s 25th anniversary in Calgary.
Tickets go on sale August 1st.
