It’s the Weekend to End Women’s Cancers in Calgary, with hundreds walking 60 k.m.’s over the next two days.
The event has raised more than $47-million over the years in support of the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
Breast cancer survivor Laurene Mitchell has raised more than $100,000 over the past eight years and says she can actually see the money going to good use.
Mitchell says money raised over the years has helped fund research projects at the U of C and Tom Baker Cancer Centre, launch two mobile screening vans that travel through rural Alberta and fund a drug that helps women recover.
