UFC 149 is expected to bring in a big payday for Calgary, but what’s taking the biggest hit are the wallets of Calgary fight fans.
The sold-out slugfest is projected to collect upwards of $20-million, but Calgarians are having a hard time unloading spare tickets.
According to The Calgary Herald, more than 1,000 tickets are listed for sale on online classified sites and fans are blaming the fall of the fight card for the lack of response.
All five of the original fights announced for the pay-per-view event have been scrapped because of injuries, but that likely won’t stop 18,000 fight junkies from passing through the Saddledome’s turnstiles Saturday.
