The 42-year-old suspect in an alleged drunk driving crash that killed a man from Chestermere could be released before the victim’s funeral.

Kelly James York was in a Calgary courtroom Thursday facing four charges, including impaired driving causing death, in connection with the death of Tony Harrison.

The 45-year-old was killed when a vehicle crossed over a double-solid yellow line and struck his motorcycle last weekend.

His funeral is set for Monday afternoon.

According to The Calgary Sun, York’s defence lawyer asked for the case to be put over to Monday morning for a bail hearing but it’s expected the Crown will oppose York’s bid for release.
