The Calgary Zoo is welcoming some new animals.

Communications co-ordinator Trish Exton-Parder tells 660News they have plenty to offer visitors, including two new alpacas and a few bears.

“We also have a couple of black bears that are brothers than have come to us on loan from Discovery Wildlife Park and they’re in our Canadian Wild section. We had a baby red panda born in June; Although it’s not out yet for the public, we have some wonderful video to share with everybody of the little guy. Also our third tiger cub has a name.” said Exton-Parder.

Exton-Parder adds past zoo board member Don Archibald generously donated $10 thousand.

He was granted the opportunity to name their third tiger cub and selected Kira, which is the Russian term for mistress or ruler.
