Watch out Tories; the New Democrats are eyeing Calgary Centre.
A by-election has to be called in the federal riding to replace Lee Richardson, who stepped down to work for Alberta’s Premier.
MacLean’s magazine writer Aaron Wherry tells 660News, the New Democrats would love to win in the Tory stronghold and recently held a strategy meeting that attracted 200 people.
However, Wherry says the only way to the ND’s could have any chance at success at the polls is if they can line up a high profile candidate.
“I mean that’s obviously a major piece of this puzzle is you know, if they want to have any hope there they probably have to come in with a candidate of some stature they can’t just ever heard of.”
Wherry says unless something dramatic happens Calgary Centre will likely remain Tory Blue, with the battle for the PC nomination more interesting than the by-election itself.
