A 36-year-old Rocky Mountain House man is dead after his plane crashed into a wooded area near the town’s airport this afternoon.

The plane went down at around 4:30 p.m. while the Pits S1S prop plane was performing an aerobatic training exercise.

Pilot Mark Chevallier was the only person on the aircraft when it crashed.

The Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash.
