Local actor in JK Rowling movie

Actor Wesley MacInnes, a Calgary native landed the role of JK Rowlings best friend in the movie about the Harry Potter author.

The role of Shawn Harris is said to be the inspiration behind Harry Potters best friend Ron Weasley.

MacInnes tells 660News he was a fan of the books and friends even suggested he go for the role of Weasley when they first started casting for the movie.

Fans of Heartland will remember MacInness who had a role in season five.

The movie will air on Movie Central.
