Police are again warning people about the dangers of taking the drug ecstasy.

On the weekend, two men in the province died from apparent drug overdoses.

The first death was recorded Saturday morning, when Calgary police were called to
SAIT Polytechnic, where they found an unresponsive man in his 20′s.

It’s hoped his autopsy will pinpoint the cause of his death, but that may have to wait until toxicology tests are completed.

Sunday afternoon, High River mounties were dispatched to Nanton, only to find three men out of sorts.

A 23-year old man died before he could be airlifted to a Calgary hospital, the two other men are still recovering.

Friends admitted to investigators drugs had been consumed.

The President of the Calgary Police Association, John Dooks, tells 660News, drug dealers are merchants of death and should face the same sentences as those who commit murder or manslaughter.

Dooks is urging parents to sit down with their children and talk about the dangers of taking street drugs.

At least five deaths in Calgary have been linked to the drug in recent months, with investigators in B.C. probing at least 12 deaths.

Health officials says those manufacturing ecstasy are now using the drug paramethoxymethamepetamine (PMMA) in the mixture, a drug that is five-times more toxic than regular (MDMA) methylenedioxymethamphetamine.
