The Calgary Flames finally open the regular season Saturday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Opening night has not been kind recently for the Flames. They’ve lost six of their last seven opening games, with the six losses coming by a combined score of 26-7.

We took to the streets to find out what Flames fans are hoping for.

Laird tells 660News the past stats are just that, in the past, “It’s going to change because it’s always like looking at stats from years gone by. The team is different every year, stats don’t make a difference.”

Captain Jarome Iginla did not play a single preseason game because of a bad back but is expected to play.

Many fans along 17th Avenue expect Iginla to have another big year and Jared tells 660News he likes the look of the team.

“Definitely keeping a positive attitude. The Flames are hard to love and have been really challenging in the past but I think we got a good season ahead of us,” Jared says.

The Flames have missed the playoffs for two straight seasons and fans believe they will make it this season.

Lincoln is a first year student at the University of Calgary and says the Flames will beat the Penguins 3-1.

The Penguins will be without Sidney Crosby as he is still recovering from a concussion.
