Wild Rose Alliance changes party name

Say “so long” to the Wildrose ‘Alliance.’ From now on, it’s just the ‘Wildrose Party!’

Members voted to change the name at this weekend’s convention, in which they further defined their platform as they prepare for an election expected sometime before spring.

A Wildrose government would scrap the Alberta Human Rights Commission and have complaints dealt with by the courts under the current human rights legislation.

In another major move, members also passed a policy supporting ‘private, not-for-profit’ health-care to operate within the publicly funded system.

Leader Danielle Smith says her members have made it clear that they want competitive delivery and a variety of different health-care providers, including public and private facilities.
