Newfoundland and Labrador has become the latest province to ban smoking in cars while kids are inside.

Alberta and Quebec are now the only two provinces in the country without such a law.

Health Minister Gene Zwozdesky tells The Calgary Herald he wants to study how effective local bylaws have been in stopping people from smoking in cars when kids are there.

Okotoks, Leduc and Athabasca have all passed such rules.

Advocacy group Action on Smoking and Health says they’re anxious for the issue to make it to the legislature floor, because they’re betting a ban would pass.
