Canada sends military plane to Libya

Canada has sent another military flight to try to get more Canadians out of strife-torn Libya.

A Canadian official says the plane landed in Libya without incident and is taking a number of evacuees back to Malta.

The government says in all almost 330 Canadians have been taken out of Libya since fighting broke out last month.

The Canadian military’s airlift has been hampered because it’s hard to get landing permission due to widespread confusion on the ground.

Canadians in Libya have been instructed to get to appropriate sea ports or airport evacuation points if they want to leave the country.

Unlike a few other countries, Canada has not proposed bold extraction missions to pluck its stranded citizens from the chaos.
