Louisiana residents fear for their future

Satellite images show the monstrous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has grown tremendously in just a day or so.

It’s now about twice the size of Prince Edward Island, and the slick is moving faster and expanding much more quickly than first estimated.

People who make a living on fish, shrimp, oysters, and other marine life along the Louisiana coast are devastated.

Jan works at a popular seafood restaurant in Venice, Louisiana and her husband is a commercial fisherman.

She tells 660News her husband is worried he’ll be out of work any moment now.

Paul also lives in the area and tells 660News it’s a big deal for people there, and everyone is talking about the huge oil mess.

He says they just got back on their feet again after Hurricane Katrina battered their community, and he thinks this will be worse environmentally.
