Iraqi-Canadians in Calgary cast ballots in election

A curfew has been set in Baghdad after insurgent violence killed dozens despite tight security during parliamentary elections.

One undeterred voter said if he stayed home and didn’t vote, things will only get worse.

Iraqi-Canadians living in Calgary also cast their ballots Sunday in their home country’s election.

Organizer Abdul Ameed Ali tells CTV the purple-painted fingers voters show at polling stations signify that a ballot has been cast.

There were only seven polling stations across the country.  Some people drove all the way from Manitoba to Calgary to vote.
