Tourism Minister believes Alberta benefited from Olympic spending

Now that the Olympics have come and gone, critics are waiting to see if a multi-million dollar investment by the provincial government will be worth it.

Provincial officials invested $14-million to sell Alberta at the winter games through both Alberta House and the Alberta Train, which provided service from Vancouver to Whistler.

Alberta Tourism Minister Cindy Ady tells 660News it was worth every penny.

The province believes it will receive about $70-million worth of international media coverage from our Olympic spending.

The Alberta Train cost the government $4-million to use, but they were able to sell private cars and reclaim half of that, so it only cost tax payers $2-million.
