Man accused of killing Calgary mother expected in court

The trial of the man accused of killing Calgary mother Arcelie Laoagan near the Franklin LRT station more than two years ago is scheduled to begin.

Christopher Watcheston is expected to appear in front of a judge Monday, almost a year after he was found mentally fit to stand trial.

The Calgary Herald reports up to 60 witnesses are expected to testify at the trial, which was originally set for last October.

Watcheston had earlier decided to plead guilty, but later changed his mind.

The mother of five was on her way home from working a late shift when she was killed in what police are calling a random attack.
