Suspect charged in fatal hit-and-run in Calgary

A 26-year-old man has been charged with driving on drugs in connection with a fatal hit-and-run over weekend.

A Calgary mother was killed after the station wagon she was riding in was hit by a stolen Ford pick-up truck, which reportedly ran a red light.

It happened at the intersection of 20th Avenue and 10th Street northwest on Sunday morning.

Police have now charged Christopher James Rae with a number of offences  including hit-and-run, criminal negligence causing death, and impaired driving causing death.

At a news conference Tuesday, police spokesman Kevin Brookwell announced charges may be laid against a second man in the theft of the vehicle.

The victim, Margaret Pulwicki, was reportedly active in her church as well as Calgary’s Polish community.

Friends tells CTV News, Pulwicki worked as an I.T. specialist with Alberta Health Services.

A funeral service is planned for Saturday at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in the northwest.
