Sad anniversary for people in Sparwood, BC

It’s not a part of the Christmas season a lot of people in Sparwood want to remember.

Today marks a year since eight people were killed in a series of avalanches while snowmobiling near the area.

A candlelight vigil is planned to remember eight men from the tiny B.C. mining town.

David Wilks, the Mayor of Sparwood, says the town has moved on since the tragedy, but will always remember.

One of the three men who survived the slides, Jeff Adams, says he’ll always remember those who died as heroes for trying to dig out one of their own when they were killed.
