2009 was a year the premier won’t soon forget.
Scott Hennig from the Canadian Taxpayers Federation tells 660News, Stelmach can start off the year with a bang, if he commits to balancing the books.
He says in Alberta, it’s going to take more work than just hoping the economy grows and gets us out of our deficit. The government will need to cut spending and get us back down to a position that is sustainable, and to a level of spending we can sustain over the long term.
Hennig does commend the premier for this year’s promise not to raise taxes, but he thinks balancing the budget should be Stelmach’s new year’s resolution.
