This is an important week for retailers and one that’s traditionally been used to get rid of old stock by offering irresistable discounts.
One retail analyst, David Ian Gray tells CTV News that’s beginning to change as some retailers start to add new items during Boxing week and early in January.
The sales items get people into the store where they’re exposed to the new product, but this situation varies between retailers.
Gray says retailers have also been getting better at forecasting their inventories and tended to be more conservative in their estimates this year.
He adds while there will be plenty of items on sale, pricing may not be much lower than what we saw in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
