Author suggests Calgary offer ‘free transit’

The author of a new book on solutions to global warming says Calgary should have free transit.
Guy Dauncey, who wrote ‘The Climate Challenge:  101 Solutions to Global Warming,’ says the idea is working in Belgium.

He says one city has managed to increase ridership ten-fold.   Dauncey believes the solution for Calgary would work if the city were to invest in a great deal more buses and C-trains.

He says every bus has the potential to get about 50 cars off the road.

Those who ‘have’ to drive, he says, can help reduce emissions by easing off on the gas pedal and keeping their vehicle maintained.
